Chalet Sous Les Bois

And Your Apline Escape

Welcome to our home

We’d love to welcome you to Chalet Sous les Bois, our home for the past 16 years, and a place that will always be incredibly close to our hearts. We bought the chalet in our mid 20s, and over nearly two decades, we’ve dedicated ourselves to transforming it into the beautiful, original home-from-home property it is today. There have been plenty of lessons, mistakes, and lots of hard work, but through it all, we’ve built something we’re truly proud of. Every detail in this chalet has been designed and crafted by us—our hands, our vision, and our dedication. We’re not just a company renting out a property; this is a labor of love, and we hope you’ll enjoy that warmth and care when you stay.

Ground Floor: A Space That Works for You

On the ground floor you’ll find a big, beautiful entrance; the perfect dumping ground for all your ski gear, boots, coats and what have yous.  Next. through the hallway, you’ll a large office,  (or secondary dining room should you wish to not eat with those grubby children!)  With a fireplace and comfy sofas to one end, this offers you with a third area to spread out and relax in style. Next door, there’s a beautiful master bedroom  featuring original wood panelling. The en-suite bathroom is equally lovely, with a modern cast iron roll-top bath and an open shower. For added flexibility, the room includes an extra, high end sofa bed, allowing it to be easily transformed into a twin or family room.

The kitchen is something we are particularly proud of—it’s designed with functionality in mind, but also with an eye on social gatherings. I love to cook, and host, so it’s also got one of the best chef’s kitchens in the valley.  (Honestly, ask any of our freelance chefs).  If cooking is your thing this is the chalet for you.   But above all, it’s designed to be a social space – the heart of the home. The large granite kitchen island is perfect for everyone to gather round and chat while someone’s cooking. The Italian designer table is extendable so you can adapt it to suit the size of your party. And if you’re looking to relax after dinner, there’s also a cozy seating area with a Samsung Frame TV for the more chilled out evenings.

In the summer, the 5-meter bi-fold doors open up, bringing the outside in and making the whole space feel even bigger. It’s a brilliant feature that really connects the house to the garden.  And, to top it off, in the summer months we’re the last to lose the sun, a whole two hours after Chamonix.

First Floor: Comfort in Every Bedroom

Upstairs, you’ll find four generously sized en suite bedrooms.  Every room is thoughtfully designed to be cozy, comfy, stylish and original, whilst the spacious and funky bathrooms offer both a bath and a shower (bar one). All our beds are super king or full sized singles and have feather duvets and pillows and thick mattress toppers, (including the sofa beds).  I believe that, a long with your trusty bottle opener, this is a must have essential for a successfully relaxing and fun holiday.)

The two bedrooms that don’t have a sofa bed have zip-and-link beds instead, which means the chalet is also perfect for corporate retreats, as we can sleep two per room in their own bed, whilst the office down stairs provides an additional extra space for working.

Every bedroom on this floor also has access to either a balcony or terrace, where you can enjoy the fresh Alpine air and Chamonix’s breathtakingly stunning views.

Top Floor: The Perfect Space for Fun and Relaxation

The top floor is where the magic happens—this is our fun space.  Unfortunately the photos just don’t do this room justice (and I’m ashamed to say, I’m the photographer…)  The 90m² living area has been divided into two distinct zones. One side features a bar with a beer keg dispenser (buy 6-liter kegs if you want to get stuck in and chill them first in one of our many fridges), a pool table, and a south-facing balcony for those pesky smokers! The other side is designed for relaxing—there’s a large TV, a log fire, and plenty of comfortable Italian designer sofas where you can unwind, watch a movie, or just enjoy the company of family and friends. It’s a really versatile space that works for both quiet evenings and lively social gatherings.

Outdoor Living: Your Private Oasis

Outside, not only is the garden is incredibly private, with tall hedges surrounding the whole perimeter, but it also faces east, south, and west, allowing you to enjoy all day sunshine.  There’s a separate deck for dining with a BBQ and stunning 360 degree panoramic views, making it the perfect for spot al fresco meals in the summer months.

There’s also a charming little mazot located in one corner of the garden.  (Traditionally this wooden cabin was where any precious belongings were stored safely away in case of a house fires).  Our next, and hopefully last, bit of building is to convert this into a sauna ready for guests in Dec 2025.

Built by Us, For You

We’ve been in the chalet and building/renovation business for over 22 years now. In that time, we’ve learned so much. From the first renovations we did, to building Petit Bois from scratch and now finally finishing the kitchen and entrance extension at Chalet Sous les Bois, every project has been a learning experience. We’ve made plenty of mistakes, but that’s how we’ve grown—and Chalet Sous les Bois is where we’ve truly gotten it right. It’s our final project, and it’s a space that we’ve crafted with care and attention to detail. It’s our home away from home, and we would be thrilled to share it with you.

We’ve also been lucky to have wonderfully loyal guests who return year after year, especially during the peak weeks like Christmas & New Year, the Feb half-term and the summer.  We really appreciate every guest who walks through our doors—it’s their feedback that’s helped us make Chalet Sous Les Bois what it is today.
