Interior & Lifestyle Photographer
I remember the when I was given my first camera, aged 8, the brilliantly named Brownie. Looking back, I loved it from the word go. When I was old enough I got a job in the local photo shop in the hope that they would teach me the magical arts of the dark room and after graduating in Art History at Nottingham I headed straight to London to assist some photographers.
However, my future plans had already been made for me as my then boyfriend (Daph) and I were off to the Alps to do a season for a friend and then on to Chamonix to try our hand at running our own Chalet Company. I was a bit gutted to not be following my dream, but Daph told me one day I would be able to do it for myself and not be beholden to all the odd and random jobs a professional photographer must do in order to make a living. (Now I really hate to say this bit, but he was right!) Finally, 10 years in, when the chalets were going a little more smoothly and there was less building work to be done, I managed to assist an amazing local photographer Jeremy Willson.
Assisting Jez was just wonderful. He’s primarily an interior photographer and worked with his talented, stylist girlfriend Lisa. Together, they taught me so much and it was a double whammy win as I got to see many beautiful interiors as well as watch and learn the photography trade.
After about a year of assisting Jez, I finally started shooting for clients. Primarily, I’m an interior photographer, I used to do weddings but they are way too scary for me these days. I enjoy Lifestyle photography too, although I get so caught up deciding which image is better on even the most marginal change in expression, which means I too easily get bogged down with the editing phase.
I also had the opportunity to do a few food photoshoots, which was also really good fun, but I’d say primarily I’m an interior photographer as this is where my passion lies.
