Petit Bois
A Charming Bijou Getaway
Petit Bois is a cosy but charming, stand alone chalet, with a private garden and saua, that comfortably sleeps up to six guests in three small bedrooms. Thoughtfully designed within the unique constraints of its origins, this much-loved retreat has become a guest favorite.
Practical & Cozy Spaces
Welcome to the first stop of your stay—our beloved “dumping ground!” This spacious entrance is where boots get kicked off, ski jackets are shed, and all the gear from your mountain adventures finds a home. It’s not fancy, but it’s practical, and it means you won’t have to worry about dragging snow and clutter into the cozy living spaces beyond.
On the ground floor, you’ll find a Jack & Jill en-suite bathroom shared by the two double bedrooms. The twin room has direct access to the hallway, where you’ll find a lovely antique dresser for storage, a desk for those who need to catch up on work, and the staircase leading upstairs. Tucked neatly under the stairs, you’ll also find a washing machine and microwave.
It’s important to note that since the Jack & Jill bathroom is accessible only through the double bedrooms, at night, guests staying in the twin room will need to use the upstairs bathroom.
Upstairs, you’ll find the main living space—an inviting, open-plan kitchen, dining, and lounge area designed and built (by me!) for relaxing and socializing. The kitchen was carefully planned to maximize functionality, fitting in a fridge, oven, dishwasher, three bins, a hob, and even a small double sink.
I built the sofas myself too. They’re designed to be low to the ground, offering plenty of space to lounge, sit up, and comfortably gather around after a day on the slopes.
The second bathroom is also upstairs, featuring a bathtub – perfect for soaking tired muscles after skiing or letting the kids enjoy a splash. Do note that this bathroom has restricted head height, a quirk that comes from the chalet’s original purpose.
A Unique Backstory & Thoughtful Design
Petit Bois wasn’t originally built as a chalet—it started as a garage, constructed by my husband and our digger-driving friend, Nico. Because of this, there are some spatial quirks, but we’ve put a lot of love and creativity into making it as functional and cozy as possible. While the second bathroom might not have ideal head height, we’re glad we managed to fit a second one in at all!
Bedrooms & Comfort
Each bedroom has its own storage, and every bed is topped with a luxurious mattress topper and feather duvet to ensure a really good night’s sleep, (a must have, in my view, if you want to make the most of your holiday).
Outdoor Space – A South-Facing Alpine Escape
Outside you’ll enjoy a sunny south-facing garden, complete with outdoor dining furniture, a BBQ, and a barrel sauna—perfect for unwinding after an active day. To access the garden, you can take the long way around… or climb out the window if you’re feeling adventurous!
Honest & Transparent – With Reviews to Prove It!
We believe in being upfront about the quirks of Petit Bois, but don’t just take our word for it – our hundreds of Airbnb reviews speak for themselves! Petit Bois is a truly special place, and we can’t wait to welcome you. But be quick though – it books up fast.

Why Stay Here?

It is hard to find a small, independent chalet with a south facing garden, sauna and ample parking, that is perfect for family and small group of friends alike. Petits Bois is 100m2 in total. It’s compact but cleverly designed, cosy and stylish. It has a gorgeous, light & airy open plan living, kitchen & dining room, three small but comfortable bedrooms, a relatively big entrance, an office area and a washing machine.
Although we’ve managed to squeeze a lot into a relatively small space you will find Petit Bois both charming and incredibly functional. There is a surprising amount of storage and comfortable beds!
On the ground floor there is an entrance and two bedrooms that have a Jack & Jill shower room en suite. There is a further small twin bedroom, an office and laundry area and stairs that lead up to the living room floor.
On the top floor you will find a newly installed kitchen, dining area, two large corner sofas and a further bathroom with a bath.
The chalet is located at the far end of Les Houches on your way to Chamonix. It’s just a 5 minute’s drive to Chamonix town centre, the ski areas of Les Houches and the inter-linked area of Brevent & Flegere.
There is a bus that stops 700 meters from the chalet’s front door and a train that stops another 100 meters further on.
Chamonix is renowned as the skiing and climbing capital of the world. It hosted the first Winter Olypics in 1924 and since then has been a centre for extreme sports in both summer and winter.
But Chamonix offers far more than just the ‘extreme’. Sitting at the base of the majestci Mont Blanc (Europe’s highest mountain) it is an area of outstanding natural beauty, with an elegant and cosmopolitan town centre and a plethora of fun things to do.
Chamonix is actually busier in the summer than winter! There’s so much to do you can easily pass a week without making too much of a dent on your to do list.
From sightseeing, to hiking, to sunbathing and wyling a way a relaxing day at the lake, most things you would want to do are possible here.
To get the most out of all these wonderful options I would recommend having a car as many options are a short drive.
My husband built this chalet from scratch with the help our digger driver friend Nico (our savior!) While I did all the design, made the sofas and bed heads and installed the kitchen. It is a labor of love and we have put a lot of thought and time into make it as homely, comfortable and functional as possible.
We have been running our chalets professionally since 2003. We pride ourselves in being experienced and conscientious hosts. And, as owners/operators we are continuously upgrading and maintaining our chalets. We really do care that our guests are comfortable and well looked after.
